Snowshoeing in a Shirogane Forest (White Birch & Blue River Course)

English-speaking guide is not availbale for this season.

Don your snowshoes, and head into a winter forest.
Enjoy precious time to the fullest in a magical world!

This is a snowshoeing experience in a forest of snow-covered Christmas trees.
The bamboo grass will be buried under the snow, so you don't need to worry about getting stuck and can stroll freely.
You'll be addicted to the feel of the powdery snow as it floats around in the air!
And unlike skiing, you don't need any special skills to take part!

※Please note that due to riverside construction, it is not possible to go down to the river bank, this season. We appreciate your understanding in this regard.

It's just like being in a Scandinavian Forest!

Hm? What's that strange object? So many discoveries!

A mysterious blue river drink?!

What to Wear

●For your under layer, please wear thermal clothing on your tops and bottoms. You will sweat a lot when you exercise, even in cold Hokkaido so where possible, we suggest that you try to avoid wearing cotton clothing.

●For your base layer, choose clothes made from fleece or other warm materials.

●For your outer layer, you will need waterproof and snow-proof ski wear and a wind-breaking jacket.
It is best if your jacket has a hood. Down jackets are also perfectly fine.
For your outer trousers, we recommend waterproof and wind-proof over trousers that you can wear over your regular trousers.
When you walk in snow shoes, snow can spray up as far as your waist, so if you wear jeans or similar then they will become wet during the tour and you will feel extremely cold.
If you are a hiker, if you have top-and-bottom rain gear such as Gore-Tex, it can be used as outerwear as long as you are wearing warm clothes clothes underneath.

●We have a limited number and in limited sizes, but we can loan you a jacket and over-trousers for an additional fee (500yen per set). If you would like to use rental wear, please inform us at the time of booking.  (Universal sizes: M, L and LL only. This may be a little large for petite women, so we appreciate your understanding. We regret that we do not have sizes available for children.)

●A warm hat that covers your ears

●Waterproof gloves (alternatively, two pairs of fleece gloves so that you can change if one pair gets wet)

●Sunglasses for sunny weather recommended (no need for ski goggles)

●Please wear thermal socks. Heat packs within your shoes are also recommended for those whose feet get cold easily.

●We recommend winter shoes or snow boots that go up above the ankle (you will need these not only for the tour, but for Hokkaido's winter in general. Within Biei town, there will still be snow on the ground even if it has been plowed, so sneakers will not be sufficient).

●For those who need them during the snowshoe tour, we can also loan you knee-high overshoes (they are nylon sock-shaped covers and will prevent snow from going inside your shoes). Please let us know at the time of booking if you wish to use these.
